About Berg's Farm Doodles & Poodles

Berg's Farm Doodles & Poodles has been a dream starting over 30 years ago. In the early 1990's we travelled to St. Joseph Island to purchase our first English Springer Spaniel Chelsea. We fell in love with scenic St. Joseph Island and purchased our 50 acre property shortly thereafter. We travelled to "The Island" for several years preparing the property to commence farming. In 1999 we began construction of our home. In the fall of 2000 John, I and our Granddaughter Billie moved into the house. 

We lost our beloved Chelsea at 13 years of age. Abbey joined us shortly thereafter and gave us another 13 years of love. We were definitely hooked on English Springer Spaniels at this point because of their loyal, loving nature. Ivy joined us the same year we lost our beautiful Abbey. Our Granddaughter Billie became a Guardian Home for Levie, a Goldendoodle from Kent Family Farms. She started training Levie as her Service Dog soon after. About a year later she started working for Kent Family Farms caring for Goldendoodle puppies. Billie asked if we could start breeding Springerdoodles, when she realized how much she loved working with the dogs. That is when our next English Springer Spaniel Keighley joined our family a little over a year after Ivy. 

Our goal is to breed healthy, well socialized puppies that have the Springer personality but are more allergy friendly like Poodles. Having a Goldendoodle Service Dog living in our home, has inspired us to breed Springerdoodles that have the temperment to enter Therapy or Service Dog Training. All our breeding animals have or will have OFA, Dr. Wallace (evet diagnostics) or PennHIP testing on their hips and elbows. We vet check their heart and eyes. We also do Genetic Testing through Paw Print Genetics to ensure our puppies do not have the known genetic diseases of the parent breeds. We also colour and coat test our animals to ensure our puppies have non shedding traits. We will never breed 2 parents that carry an improper coat gene. We are currently planning to add Moyen and Miniature Poodles to our breeding lines in the near future!

We feed TLC Dog Food and NuVet Plus Supplements to all our adult dogs and start all our puppies on them before they leave to go to their Furever Homes.
